ABOUT US

Out of the Blue is a freehouse based just outside of the main town of Porthleven. Originally owned and run by Porthleven FC, the freehouse was taken over by Kim and Simon Stone during July 2013, the landlords of Helston's Blue Anchor brewpub.

The freehouse has been modernised and refurbished, with a large, modern bar area with plentiful seating, a jukebox, darts, pool table, TV, and of course not a single space on the wall is wasted - there is an abundance of Porthleven history within every inch of the place. Out of the Blue sells the award-winning Cornish ale 'Spingo', brewed in Helston (10 minutes’ drive) at The Blue Anchor Inn, so adults are never far away from a refreshment. The freehouse also hosts live music throughout the year, and Bingo fans can play every Friday evening at 7pm with cash prizes. You can read more about what's on, on our Events page.

Also on the property, is Mill Lane Camp Site, a touring caravan and campsite. Out of the Blue, and Mill Lane Camp Site, are dog-friendly locations, and are just a five-minute walk from Porthleven beach, famous as one of Cornwall’s best reef breaks (perfect for you surfers!). It’s also five minutes to the South West Coast Path, making this a great base for long-distance hikers too.

Porthleven village itself hosts the award-winning Food Festival in July, and of course offers plentiful scenic walks, both in the town and along the coast.
